Manipur: Landslide cuts off Imphal-Jiribam section of NH-37

IMPHAL, June 8, 2018: Normal vehicular movement along the Imphal-Jiribam section of NH-37 came to a grinding halt following a massive landslide at Kotlen in Tamenglong district on Thursday.
Owing to the landslide, hundreds of vehicles including passenger service originating from both Jiribam and Imphal sides were stranded.
The landslide occurred early morning at a hilly place located a few metres away from Kotlen on Jiribam side. Passengers of some vehicles initially attempted to clear the road.
Authorities manning the highways rushed to the spot and were trying to clear the road using available machinery. They expect to finish road clearing work by Friday.
