Nepal’s upper house endorses bill to update new political map which includes Indian territory

KATHMANDU | JUNE 14, 2020:

The Nepal upper house of parliament on Sunday unanimously endorsed the proposal to consider the amendment to update Nepal's map.

All the 258 members of parliament voted in favour of the bill. The National Assembly members now have only 72 hours to register for any new amendment proposals.

It is to be mentioned that the new amendment of Nepal's map will depict The Upper House of the parliament on Sunday has unanimously endorsed the proposal to consider for the amendment to update Nepal's map.

The decision was taken during the meeting which was held on Sunday.

Meanwhile, all the 258 Members of Parliament voted in favour of the bill.

The National Assembly members now have only 72 hours to register for any new amendment proposals.

It is to be mentioned that the new amendment of Nepal's map will depict Kalapani, Lipulekh, and Limipiyadhura as Nepali territories.

India, however, has maintained that these three strategic places are a part of India. Anurag Srivastava, the spokesperson of India's Ministry of External Affairs, said on Thursday, "We have already made our position clear on these issues. India deeply values its civilization, cultural and friendly relations with Nepal."
