Meghalaya: NPP flag flies high in Ranikor as Congress members resign en-mass

TNT News | Ranikor, June 12, 2018:

The Congress flag was taken down in Ranikor and the NPP flag was hoisted in its stead as Congress supporters in this constituency resigned en-mass from the party to join the Conrad Sangma-led National People's Party.

This decision was taken during the visit of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to Ranikor on Tuesday where he was welcomed by sitting Congress MLA Martin M Danggo. Danggo also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister asking him to fulfil the demand of creation of Civil Sub-Division at Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills at a public meeting here today.

During the meeting, the Congress block unit was dissolved by the President and General Secretary of the Block Congress unit. The Congress members joined the NPP and hoisted the party flag before a large gathering.
This move by the Congress members in Ranikor sends a clear message on the stand of the sitting Congress MLA, MM Danggo. Earlier, it was reported that Danggo is likely to join NPP and today's event clears all doubts though Danggo is yet to officially resign from the Congress to join the NPP.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Home Minister James K. Sangma, C&RD Minister Snaiwbhalang Dhar and others were also present at the gathering.
