Meghalaya: Congress member Szarita Laitphlang appointed as Regional Coordinator of AIPC

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appointed prominent Congress member from Shillong, Szarita Laitphlang as the Regional Coordinator of the All India Professional Congress for the East Zone.
Laitphlang will be taking over the role from Assam MP, Gaurav Gogoi. "AIPC appreciates the work done by Gaurav Gogoi, who will be stepping down as Regional Coordinator for the East Zone," said a release issued by the party here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Secretary of AICC Research Department, Ranajit Mukherjee has congratulated Laitphlang on being appointed as regional coordinator. "I am really happy that Kong Szarita Laitphlang, my colleague who has worked in the organisation from Meghalaya Youth Congress onwards to senior position in MPCC, has now been entrusted with heading the East Zone of All India Professionals Congress by the Congress President. This inspires all of us who have entered the system from Youth Congress and have worked for the party for years that our efforts will be rewarded. She is taking over from Gaurav Gogoi, who is now AICC in-charge of Bengal," he said.
From Meghalaya, she is the first one in a national role in any AICC Department.
