In a first, Meghalaya will have 67 all women polling stations

In a first, Meghalaya will have 67 all women polling stations manned by women polling officials and women polling agents.

Informing that the state will have 67 all women polling station which will be manned by only women polling officials and agents, State Chief Electoral officer (CEO) F.R Kharkongor said, "It is its befitting as we are known for our gender sensitivity and the number of female voters also outnumbers the male voters in the state."

He further said that in addition to it, there are 193 modern polling stations which will be aesthetically done up to encourage voters and equipped with facilities like live web-casting which will be received directly by the CEO and the ECI.

Khakongor also lauded the effort put in by the government officials to make the poll a successful and peaceful one.

The state if effectively going for polls in 3,025 polling stations and 59 constituencies minus the Williamnagar constituency under which there are 58 polling stations.
