QS World University Rankings 2022: Three Indian universities in top 200

The QS World World University Rankings 2022 has ranked the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru as a top university for research in the world.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a British company specialising in the analysis of higher education institutions around the world, released the 18th edition of the World’s International University rankings on Wednesday.

The QS World World University Rankings 2022 has ranked the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru as a top university for research in the world.

In the 18 edition of the QS rankings, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi and IISc Bangaluru have been ranked among the top 200 universities from across the globe.

IIT Bombay has been ranked 177th, which also makes it India's top-ranked institution for the fourth year in a row.

Meanwhile, IIT Delhi, the second-best institute in India has been ranked 185th on the list.

Congratulating the three universities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Congratulations to @iiscbangalore@iitbombay and  @iitdelhi. Efforts are underway to ensure more universities and institutions of India scale global excellence and support intellectual prowess among the youth." 

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also hailed the top tier institutes for making great progress in research and innovation, in addition to producing skilled manpower.

"I congratulate faculty members & directors of these institutes for the work that keeps us moving in the right direction of becoming a Vishvaguru," Pokhriyal said.
