India overtakes Brazil in the number of COVID-19 cases


NEW DELHI | SEPT 07, 2020:

India has reported the second-largest number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the world, with 4,204,613 total cases.

The country has reported 71,642 deaths, the third-highest in the world.

For the last seven days, India's caseload has galloped, adding over 75,000 daily infections per day.

Over 60% of the active cases are from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

The number of daily tests conducted across the country has risen to more than a million.

In August, India became the third country in the world to pass two million cases.
