1. Indian Air Force gear up to brace Cyclone 'Yaas'

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is airlifting 21 tons of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) equipment and 334 personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) from Patna and Varanasi to Kolkata, and from Arakkonam to Port Blair, utilising 5 C-130 aircraft in preparation for the approaching Cyclone Yaas.

2. Assam gears up against seasonal floods during COVID

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed all the deputy commissioners to keep ready and activate their district disaster management plans before the seasonal floods and asked them to put in place the relief camps complying with the COVID-19 protocols.

3. Meghalaya: Ri-Bhoi district administration sets up ‘War Rooms’ to intensify fight against COVID

The Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District has informed that additional information centres known as War Rooms or Control Rooms have been set up at the District and Block levels, where at Block levels these centres will function under the Block Development Officer/ Incident Commander.

4. Ri-Bhoi District Administration to dedicate Housing for Urban Poor residences for accommodating frontline workers

The Ri-Bhoi District Administration along with the Department of Urban Affairs has taken up an alternative decision to temporarily dedicate the Housing for Urban Poor residences for accommodating doctors and nurses who are at the front line fighting against COVID-19.

5. Assam: Six Dimasa National Liberation Army militants shot dead

At least six Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) cadres were shot dead in an exchange of fire with the Assam police and Assam rifles.

6. District collector slaps youth, smashes phone, says sorry after video goes viral

The district collector of Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh apologised for slapping a man and throwing his phone on the ground on the pretext of violating Covid-19 norms during the lockdown.
