Six individuals who returned to India from the United Kingdom (UK), tested positive for the new coronavirus genome on Tuesday.

According to official government sources, the respective state governments have kept the six individuals in single-room isolation in designated healthcare facilities.

“They have also put their close contacts under quarantine. Comprehensive contact tracing has begun for co-travellers, family contacts and others. Genome sequencing on other specimens is going on,” stated a press release.

The new UK coronavirus variant has become a primary cause of worry across the globe, as it is more infectious and easily transmissible.
