AGARTALA:

The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has started conducting its first ‘Bochor Bachao’ examinations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first ‘Bochor Bachao’ or save-a-year examinations for Class 10 and 12 students who failed in two subjects started on October 12 and will continue till October 22.

This was informed by Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath here on Wednesday.

Nearly 93 per cent of the class 10 students appeared for their Bochor Bachao exams on the first day while 89 per cent in the higher secondary phase wrote their year saver exam papers.

According to the ‘Bochor Bachao’ scheme introduced by the state government, students would be guaranteed entry into colleges or the next class even if they fail in two subjects, provided that they secure a minimum of 150 marks. They would have to clear a re-test within 75 days of the declaration of the results to continue their higher education.

Nath also stated that the entire examination process would be conducted by maintaining social distancing and other COVID-19 safety protocols.
