The Tripura government has withdrawn the state-wide night curfew in view of Durga Puja.

“It appeared prudent not to impose the curfew during the puja days as it will increase crowding during the non-curfew period,” Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar said.

“Cancellation of night curfew would commence on Friday. The district magistrates can decide on enforcing a curfew in any area of the district concerned,” Kumar said.

Meanwhile, the All Tripura Government Doctors Association (ATGDA) has advised against the crowding of puja pandals stating that the situation may worsen if people violate guidelines and precautions during the festival days.

“People should refrain from crowding the pandals, streets and eateries,” ATGDA general secretary Rajesh Choudhury said.

We may note that the ATGDA also urged the state government to fill up the vacancies of doctors, nurses and health workers stating that early appointments are essential to deal with the COVID-19 situation especially since the number of cases in the state has surpassed 30,000.
