Storm hits Karbi Anglong; several houses damaged; no casualty reported

DIPHU, May 16:

Several houses were damaged after being hit by a cyclonic storm at Tekelangjun (Bagpani) under Dokmoka Police station area here on Saturday afternoon. No casualty was reported.

One Somit Killing, a local resident of Jonasing Killing village, told this reporter that a storm which occurred around 2:30 in the afternoon lasted for one hour and damaged many houses in Tekelangjun area.

The effected villages include Takara Bey, Bahin Tokbi, Jeng Ronghang, Jonasing Killing and Orchot Taro.

It was reported that some poor families are badly affected after getting their houses blown away.

Expressing pain and grief, Killing said many properties like aracanut plants have been destroy by the storm. No domestic animals and birds were killed.

Till now, none of the authorities have reach the village, said Killing.
