Sikkim Progressive Youth Forum (SPYF) has demanded the state government to review a recent notification in the hike of taxi fares in the state.

SPYF has demanded the government to start state-run SNT bus services from and between all towns and bazaars of the state without raising fares.

Further, they have also demanded to provide sizable economic relief packages to the drivers.

Lashing out at the government, the members have asked the government to immediately slash at least 30% of the salaries from MLAs, Advisors, Chairpersons, all political appointees, and government employees whose salary is over one lakh.

They have also asked the government to give onetime relaxation in several taxes levied by the state to the non-private, non-Governmental vehicles.

They have also asked the government to send advisories to the banks and to give relaxation of six months in paying instalment since many drivers cannot pay the loan.
