Northeast India requires special attention: Union Minister

 |

The Northeast Indian states have become a prime focus in the recent past owing to various factors, the rise of the saffron party being one of them. At the backdrop of dynamic changes in the region, Union minister of state (IC) for power, coal and new & renewable energy Piyush Goyal has said that Northeastern states require more attention than the rest of India.

"The Northeastern states require concern, care and commitment and special attention from everyone", he said at the inauguration of the fourth edition of the two-day States' Power Minister's Conference at Cansaulim, South Goa.

He was referring to a previous edition of the conference held in Guwahati, Assam, which had never seen a National meeting of its kind in the past. The purpose of the half yearly conference attended by power ministers and secretaries from all states and Union territories is to review progress of schemes and learn from others states.
