Nagaland’s Hekani Jakhalu receives Nari Shakti Award

In a proud moment for the state of Nagaland, US educated lawyer turned social entrepreneur, Hekani Jakhalu was conferred the highest civilian honour for women — Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018 on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Jakhalu is the Founder of YouthNet — a non-profit organization with a mission to help youth acquire knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes to enable them to become self directing, positive, productive, responsible and contributing members of society through active participation and involvement.
She received the award from none other than the President Ram Nath Kovind.
The award recognises the spirit of courage of a woman in difficult circumstances, who has established this spirit of courage in her personal or professional life. The award also recognises the pioneering contribution of an individual in empowering women and raising women's issues.[(
