Nagaland: NSCN(K) cadre held with arms in Zunheboto district

KOHIMA, November 3: Assam Rifles troopers apprehended one NSCN-K cadre along with arms and ammunitions in Zunheboto district yesterday.

According to a press release issued by the PRO of the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) Lt. Col Amitabh Sharma informed that the 5 Assam Rifles under the supervision of HQ IGAR (North) launched an operation along with a police representative based on specific information regarding presence of a NSCN (K) cadre in general area in Hekiye Village under Zunheboto District yesterday.

During the operation they apprehended one individual who was identified as one self-styled finance secretary aged 33 years and a resident of Aichisaghemi in Zunheboto District. The apprehended cadre revealed that he had been a member of NSCN (K) since 2008 and was involved in carrying our extortion. A rifle with live ammunition was recovered from the arrested cadre.

The recovered items along with the arrested cadre was handed over to Zunheboto Police Station for further investigation, the release said.
