Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has called upon the religious leaders to stop confusing the Naga people by mixing religion with politics.

Addressing the celebration of the four years of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre in Pfutsero Town under Phek district on June 7, Patton said BJP has no connections with religion as it is only a political party, which is committed towards the all round development and welfare of the people. Lamenting that BJP was branded as 'anti-Christian' during the February Assembly elections and the just concluded Lok Sabha bye-poll in the State, he appealed the people to stop hating BJP and not to be fooled by the false religious propaganda.

Patton said a resource crunched state like Nagaland which always depends on the funding and grants from the Central government should always have good relation with the ruling party. He claimed that the BJP-led NDA under the leadership of Narendra Modi will come out victorious even in the 2019 Parliamentary elections and therefore it is necessary that Naga people also accept BJP in the State. Acknowledging the people for the support extended to the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) in the State, the Deputy CM said the last government in the state had witnessed continuous crisis for four years but the present PDA government is committed to bring about change in development.
