A wanted 'criminal' surrendered before the North Garo Hills (NGH) police on Tuesday. He was involved in a case of stocking weapons that were recovered on October 13 in Dalmang village.

The surrenderee has been identified as Simnang Sangma, 30 years old.

According to sources, police raided the house of Sangma in Dalmang village under Bajengdoba Police Station after receiving information of weapons being collected by the person.

Upon raiding the house, police recovered a few dummy weapons and some country-made weapons.

The police also found camouflage uniforms in the house.

“While the raid was on, Sangma was not in the village and was absconding. However, he later surrendered to the police at Bajengdoba and is cooperating with the investigation,” superintendent of police, NGH, Abraham T Sangma said.

They have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and an investigation into the matter is on.
