Meghalaya: Two killed, one injured in road accident in WKH

Two persons lost their lives and one sustained injuries in a road accident around midnight at National Highway (NH) 44E near the Food Corporation of India (FCI) junction at Pyndengrei village in West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya.

According to sources, five occupants of the vehicle (Bolero) were travelling towards Mawiaban when the mishap took place.

The deceased persons have been identified as Andy Iawphniaw (26), Micky Sohlang (30), and the injured person has been identified as Donkupar Marwein (25).

The incident happened after the vehicle (Bolero) reportedly attempted to overtake a truck, but lost control and due to the presence of mud on the road, the vehicle skidded and overturned about four times before it came to a halt.

Sources said Andy Iawphniaw (driver) died on the way to Shillong while Micky Sohlang succumbed to his injuries at Super Care Hospital in the capital city.
