Meghalaya: ‘Detailed land survey of Them Iew Mawlong area within 10 days’, says Dy CM

The High Level Committee (HLC) has decided to ask the Directorate of Land Records and Survey to immediately conduct a detailed land survey of the sweeper's colony at Them Iew Mawlong.

"We have given them 10 days time to complete the survey of the area," Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told media persons after the second meeting of the committee here today.

Tynsong who is also the chairman of the committee said that the fresh land survey of the area is required to have a clarity since one portion of the land belongs to the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) while another portion belongs to the Hima Mylliem.

"We will again meet to decide on our next course of action after the receiving the detailed survey map from the Directorate of Land and Records," Deputy Chief Minister said.

When asked if any survey was done in the past, Tynsong said that till date, a detailed survey had never been carried out.

"As of now, neither the Municipal Board, the Syiem of Mylliem or the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council has a proper detailed map of the area. Therefore, this exercise is required to be carried out," he said.

Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the Committee is also collecting information on the number of 4th grade employees, working in various departments and are residing in the area.

Tynsong also informed that they have co-opted two new members including Tourism Minister, Metbah Lyngdoh and Meghalaya Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) Renikton L Tongdkhar.
