Meghalaya CM takes oath as new member of State Assembly

TNT News | Shillong, Sept 5, 2018: 

Meghalaya Chief Minister and newly elected MLA from South Tura, Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday took oath as the 60th member of the State Legislative Assembly.

Sangma resigned as the Member of the Parliament from Tura parliamentary seat on Tuesday during his visit to New Delhi.

The oath was administered by Meghalaya Speaker, Dr Donkupar Roy at the Old Assembly Building in Khyndai Lad, Shillong today.

Conrad swept the South Tura bypoll after defeating his opponent by a huge margin of over 8000, the highest margin recorded in this year's Assembly elections.

Last week, newly elected MLA from Ranikor, Pius Marwein took oath as the new member of the Assembly after winning the bypoll, which was held simultaneously along with South Tura, by defeating his closest rival, 5-time Ranikor MLA MM Danggo of the NPP by over 2000 votes.
