Plagiarism issue: Top Manipur designer Robert Naorem apologises to RKCS, understanding reached

Acclaimed Manipur designer Robert Naorem has apologised to Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh (RKCS) Museum for "plagiarising" the design of renowned painter RKCS.

Robert Naorem took to Facebook to express his apology. He wrote, "RKCs gallery da chatchurey (I have gone to RKCS gallery) .. I sincerely apologise and came back with good blessing & kind suggestions. Thank you RKCS Art Museum for your warm gesture."

RKCS on Tuesday had asked Robert Naorem to publicly apologise for using the works of RKCS in his design.

The Facebook post bearing the complaint by RKCS Arts Museum has been removed following Robert Naorem's visit to the museum and the subsequent public apology.

"Both parties have agreed that Robert Naorem to publicly apologise and to cease his designs relating to the artworks of RKCS," read the statement issued by RKCS.

"We appreciate Robert Naorem for genuinely accepting his mistakes and coming to agreement with us."

Robert Naorem is a top designer from Manipur who has been credited for promoting the Manipur handloom and traditional way of life through his designs.

RKCS was a top-notch painter from Manipur and his works are preserved in the RKCS Art Museum.
