Manipur's Shushila to represent India in Intl. Judo event at Budapest from Oct 23

The obsession with sports have always stayed with Manipur and once again, an athlete from this state, Likmabam Shushila has been selected as one of the five Judokas in the Indian Judo team for the Judo Foreign Exposure event that will be held from October 23-26, 2020 at Budapest, Hungary.

Shushila is the only participant from Northeast selected for the national team. A total of 645 Judokas from 81 countries is said to participate in the upcoming event.

Born in the year 1995, the 25-year-old judoka hails from Heingang in Imphal West district and is ranked 41st after scoring 833 points at the Olympic qualifiers.

She won a gold medal at the 48-kg category in Commonwealth Judo Championship in 2019 that was organized by the British Judo Association at Walsall, Birmingham in England and had also won a silver medal at 48-kg weight category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games held at Glasgow.

L. Shushila will compete in the 48-kg category while the remaining four judokas will compete in 60-kg, 66-kg, 78-kg and 100-kg category.
