Professional MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighter Roshan Mainam from Manipur’s Thoubal district will face off against China’s Liu Peng Shuai at the ONE Championship: Reign of Dynasties on October 9 in Singapore.

Mainam began wrestling at the tender age of nine and is now a professional fighter representing Team Evolve MMA in Singapore.

The 24-year-old flyweight is 166 cm tall and is all set for the upcoming fight.

Mainam moved to Singapore after having taken part in the Evolve Global Tryouts back in November 2018, which enabled him to train under the best instructors from Team Evolve.

They say the Manipur native is hoping to become India’s first MMA World Champion.

Mainam has won four Delhi State championships as a member of Guru Hanuman Akhara - believed to be the oldest and most prestigious wrestling camp in India.

Mainam’s interest in MMA came after watching a few bouts on television. He soon became one of the fastest rising stars in India’s Super Fight League (SFL).

Following his success at the SFL, he earned a place at the Evolve gym in Singapore after beating hundreds at the tryouts and later signed with One Championship.

Mainam is a finisher, and many fans are expecting him to go the distance.

One Championship (ONE) is Asia’s largest global sports media property and broadcasts to over 150 countries.

It is also the world’s largest martial arts organisation.
