IMPHAL:

Manipur will follow a ‘focussed containment’ plan to control the Covid numbers which are presently surging in the state.

Manipur recorded the highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases on Friday with 337 new positive cases.

Given the rise of COVID-19 cases, the Manipur government has announced on Friday, a ‘focussed containment’ plan to curb the local transmission in the state.

Under this alternative plan, the state will identify certain hotspots at the micro-level wherein movement of people will be restricted in the containment zones except for medical emergencies and those delivering essential goods.

The containment period is said to last for 10 to 14 days, and it will become effective from today.

House to house surveillance, intensive contact tracing and other clinical procedures will be in place at the new containment zones after taking into consideration the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.
