Manipur CM inaugurates ‘blessing ceremony’ of widening Pallel-Chandel road

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh inaugurated the "blessing ceremony" of the widening and strengthening of Pallel-Chandel two-lane road through video conferencing from the Secretariat on September 9.

The project is estimated at Rs 71 crore.

Another 30 crore has been earmarked for the compensation to be paid to the people for the widening of the road. The road stretch between Pallel and Chandel that is to be widened and strengthened is 18.292 km long and is in the National Highway number 102 C.

It is a project that is to be undertaken by the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The tender for the construction has been given to Krishna Construction Pvt Ltd and is scheduled to be completed within 2 years.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM talked about how poor connectivity between Chandel and Imphal has alienated the people of Chandel and how his government is trying to bridge the gap between Chandel and Imphal through the construction of roads and water services among others.

The Chief Minister has asked for the cooperation of the people of Chandel in the construction and has asked for a conducive environment. "Let us make a collective effort to bring a positive change and overall development in all districts of the State", N Biren Singh added.

Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Principal Secretary (Works), Additional Chief Engineer, other engineers, SDO and the ADC of Chandel also attended the occasion.
