14-yr-old minor ‘sexually assaulted’ in Manipur’s Imphal West; no arrest made

IMPHAL | Sept 03, 2020:

A fourteen-year-old minor was allegedly sexually assaulted in Imphal West district in the wee hours of September 2.

According to reports, the minor girl went missing from September 1 evening and was later found lying unconscious in a paddy field by a local resident, who later informed the police.

Following the incident, the victim was immediately taken to a city hospital. Her condition is said to be critical and is on ventilator support.

An investigation into the matter has started and till the filing of this report, no breakthrough has been reported as police as yet to identify the culprits.

The statement of the victim's family is being recorded by the police.

Meanwhile, the women's wing of the Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) has condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of the culprits within 24 hours.
