IMPHAL, September 26, 2018: The Manipur University impasse in relation to the demand for action against suspended VC Prof AS Pandey continued to disturb normalcy in the state.

Hostellers within the campus have vacated their rooms after security personnel entered the hostels and fired upon them on the night of September 21. All classes and examinations remained suspended. Five teachers and ten students of the Manipur University were remanded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, following a directive from the Manipur High Court internet services which remained suspended from September 22 were restored today.

The High Court of Manipur on Tuesday asked the government to ensure that BSNL and other private service providers should provide internet services to the people.

The two member Committee enquiring into the probe had summoned Prof Pandey however, the papers were not accepted and he refused to cooperate.

As the committee was not going ahead with the University staff, teachers and students have stated that it was meaningless. Most of the documents may have been tampered and manipulated.
