Manipur Ambush update: Army hits Manipur ultras in Myanmar

IMPHAL: At the backdrop of 6 Assam Rifles Jawans being killed in the May 22 ambush whereby the Core Committee (CorCom) was seen to claim responsibility of the attack, the Indian Army has been on a hot pursuit of Manipuri insurgents along the Indo-Myanmar border.

A surgical strike was carried out inside Myanmar whereby several ultras were gunned down in the second successful operation of the India Army.

Army sources were quoted by various national dailies as claiming that a high level surgical strike was carried out that led to killing of insurgents and destruction of insurgent camps along the Indo-Myanmar border. However, there was no official word from the Army, though after the ambush last June, the Army had issued a brief statement.

As per reports, Indian Army hasd targetted these militants on May 22 and as per initial reports, at least eight militants had been killed as yet.

CorCom is a a joint platform of militant groups operating in the valley areas of Manipur. The CorCom had claimed responsibility for May 22 ambush and even released photographs of its hit squad.
