Respected Editor,
Records are always meant to be broken and the Manipur-Nagaland U-19 North-East championship will surely stun the cricket fraternity. The combined wides in the match was 136! The region has always been known for football craze environment but I do personally demean any sport as every sport brings its own benefits.
Recently, the Finance Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recommended creation of a Rs 50 crore fund for Infrastructure Development for the North East States and this kind of funding should be used judiciously to improve the quality of players. Football and Cricket in our country cannot only be about money, entertainment revenue but about employment generation and tourism opportunity for our country.
Aside from Cricket, other sports have always taken the backseat in our country, we wait until the last moment to strike our name into the list. We try to look into the chart of Top 10 but not consistent performance. I guess this is the right time to fine tune sports and bring justice to other sports in the region.
Regards
Yours faithfully
