We are eyeing a BJP-led Bodoland Territorial Council administration: Assam minister

 |

Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has categorically said the party’s aim “is to have a BJP-led administration in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), which is going to elections in December.”

Speaking to media persons, Sarma said the time has come for the BTC administration to be led by the BJP much like in the other autonomous councils of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, which would also bring about a complete transformation regarding the council’s development.

“The BTC elections will be held in December and BJP is contesting the polls on its own,” he said.

The minister, who addressed the BJP ST Morcha state executive meeting in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, said the state and central governments are committed towards implementation of the clauses of the Bodoland Territorial Region peace accord in letter and spirit.

BJP leads a coalition government in Assam with partners Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).

BPF has been in power in the BTC since 2003 when the BTAD was formed.
