Man held for allegedly raping minor girl in Assam's Nagaon district

GUWAHATI

Assam Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor girl in Nagaon District.

The man, identified as Uttam Kumar Mandal, was handed over to the police by a group of villagers. He was reportedly caught red-handed while committing the "heinous" crime.

The accused had allegedly lured the girl with a promise of buying her something from a nearby shop on Sunday night.

“We caught him red-handed while he was committing the heinous crime. Later we handed him over to police,” a local villager said.
