Assam: State govt takes steps to develop over 300 tourists spots

GUWAHATI | August 16, 2019:

The Assam government has taken steps to develop over 300 tourists spots to attract more tourists. Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation Bhaskar Phukan told AIR that said that 150 crore rupees to be spent to develop these locations under Axom Darshan.

Phukan said that toilet,  waste management,  drinking water and waiting shades to be built or develop across the state in important locations. He said that the prime aim of this initiative is to provide better infrastructure to the tourists visiting Assam. Every year lakhs of domestic and foreign tourists throng Assam to visit the Kamakhya temple,  Kaziranga national park ,Majuli among others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech,  has given also emphasis in making the tourism sector of the North East more popular. 

Phukan  also said that stress has been given to generate employment opportunities in the tourism sector in Assam, keeping in mind the vast potentially in this sector.
