Assam | Dibrugarh district to receive an award for implementation of PMMVY

GUWAHATI | September 5, 2018:

Dibrugarh district has been selected for the regional district award by the ministry of women and child development for its commendable performance in implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.

The award will be given at the national-level concluding ceremony of Matri Vandana Saptah to be held at Hotel Seyfort Sarovar Portico in Dehradun on Friday.

Barbarua block will receive the best performing child development project officer award under the integrated child development project.

In the year 2010 the Yojana was implemented and was introduced by the ministry of women and child development, it is a maternity benefit programme which provides a partial wage compensation to women for wage-loss during childbirth and childcare and to provide conditions for safe delivery, good nutrition, and feeding practices. It is a conditional cash transfer scheme for pregnant and lactating women of 19 years or above for the first live birth.

The programme has been successfully implemented across the district under the leadership of deputy commissioner Laya Madduri.

Madduri expressed her happiness over the selection of Dibrugarh for the award. She hopes that in the coming days Dibrugarh will successfully implement all the developmental projects.
