Assam: Budget 2020-21 to be people centric & will consolidate gains already made: Himanta Biswa

GUWAHATI | FEB 26, 2020:

Finance Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who will be presenting the budget in Assam on March 4 said that 2020-21 state budget will be consolidation of gains already made.

He assured that the budget this will have an array of new schemes and said that on Tuesday BJP MLAs have made suggestion pertaining to the budget. Finance department has taken note of their suggestions.

Sarma stated that the budget is going to be people centric and will ensure consolidation of gains already made.

Recently in public rally Sarma announced BJP led government will offer free rice and subsided pulses and sugar.

Earlier BJP led government had initiated Affordable Nutrition and Nourishment Assistance (ANNA) scheme which provided rice at one Rupee per kilogram (Kg) to 57 lakh households in Assam.

Sarma said that one Re rice will be made available for free. The state will subsidize pulses and sugar by at least 50 percent and in the next budget session this scheme will be announced.
