GUWAHATI | April 4, 2019:

BJP candidate from Guwahati (E), Queen Ojha, landed in trouble after she allegedly submitted false educational qualification in support of her nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Ojha, in an affidavit which was filed before the returning officer of the Lok Sabha, Amingaon in Guwahati had mentioned that she completed her higher secondary from Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) in the year 2011.

However, the University said they never offered a higher secondary (HS) course or any course that is equivalent to it.

KKHSOU registrar, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, said that the university had previously offered 'Bachelor Preparatory Programme' (BPP) for candidates who failed in their HSLC or wanted to enrol for a degree course. However, the university had suspended the BPP course two years ago.

While talking to News18, Ojha said that she has been serving the people of state for the last 35 years and is politically educated. She added that there might be an error while writing the affidavit which will be cleared after the enquiry.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Bobbeeta Sharma and Upamanyu Hazarika, an independent candidate, contesting from the same constituency said that
they would raise the issue with the Election Commission.

Bobbeeta Sharma has also sought legal help from her lawyer to discuss whether the issue can be raised any further to cancel Ojha's nomination.
