Arunachal fashion designer makes Northeast India proud

ITANAGAR: Designers from Northeast India are making their mark and hitting their targets on the dot. Basing their footprint around the world, Arunachal Pradesh born designer Nixon Bui presented his first full collection 'Urban Tribal' at Copenhagen, Denmark.

NIXONBUI is a ready-to-wear menswear brand founded in 2014, based in Copenhagen selected to present at the show, was chosen due its originality and focus on sustainable fashion.

Giving a more indigenous outlook towards the fashion show, Nixon Bui has showcased modern classical wear in urban setting with tribal details.

A native of the Tagin tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, Nixon blends the ancient tribal and the minimal Scandinavian, the old and the new. The essence of the brand can be described as an urban expression of tribal energy, implementing the tribal philosophy into the modern world.

The collection comprises of T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, pants and caps and there were 21 pieces inspired from the tribal lifestyle of the northeast region.

In a press release, Nixon said, "The Green Week runway show was a great opportunity for us to show our brand, and also show Copenhagen what we are about. And the response has been great! What I am most happy about is that I am able to represent Northeast India to the Western world. And it's amazing to see how curious people are about my heritage and they want to know more about it. That's already an achievement for me."
