Meghalaya Health minister submits proposal to Centre for additional funds to tackle COVID-19

State Health Minister Alexander Laloo Hek, on Friday, met Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in Delhi and submitted proposals for additional funds to tackle the COVID-19 situation.

“We have submitted the proposals for additional funds since the state is facing with the problem of huge financial crunch,” Hek said.

The Meghalaya Government spent an amount of Rs 399 crore to deal with the COVID-19 situation from March till the end of September this year.

According to Hek, they have submitted a proposal for an additional grant for the National Health Mission (NHM).

Hek also informed that he had discussed the strengthening of the health care system in Meghalaya.

“He (Dr. Harsh Vardhan) is happy with the state government and told (us) to submit the proposals for the improvement of health structures at the earliest. He is happy with the state government for containing the COVID-19 cases," Hek said.
