Kholar Festival celebrated in Pungro, Nagaland

Kholar Festival (Festival of Peace), the first of its kind, was celebrated at public ground, Pungro town on Friday with Sapu Bhattacharyya, Director of NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd. as the chief guest.
Sapu Bhattacharyya pointed out three developmental aspects that include green revolution, social empowerment and human resource development. He highlighted on initiating green revolution as Nagaland is blessed with rich natural resources that can be utilised by the people.
Bhattacharyya emphasised on the importance of agricultural productivity for the livelihood and survival of the population. He lauded the district administration and various organisations for the innovative idea of celebrating Kholar Festival thus encouraging farmers to increase their production and enhance their economy.
The exhibition stalls put up by 45 villages including SHGs were inaugurated by the chief guest. The programme included traditional games, folk dance competition, folk songs, freestyle dance, and Winter Queen Contest.
The programme was presided over by Lilemcha, the welcome address was delivered by PFPSD President, S. Kiusumew Yimchungrü, and the significance of the 'kholar' theme was delivered by EAC Hq while the vote of thanks was proposed by EAC Kiusam. Short speeches were also delivered by USLP Vice-President K. Tsulise and Vice President YTC, and a special song was performed by K. Tsuyamew. District administration of Pungro sub- division, various organisations, and public leaders of Pungro sub-division attended the programme.
