Assam: Shahil Dey, student from Assam to enter World Youth Chess Tournament in Brazil

GUWAHATI, August 19: Shahil Dey, a student of standard 5th from Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, Assam has successfully qualified for the Under 10 World Youth Chess Tournament.

According to sources, Shahil is projected to bag the 3rd prize at the open section of the 4th Kurukshetra All Assam Chess Tournament, Dibrugarh. Shahil was earlier awarded with the overall chess championship award held at Assam Jatiya Vidayalaya, Guwahati.

“It’s a great feeling. I am really excited to meet new members at the tournament and make new friends. I want to thank Maria’s Public School for creating an environment that allows us to pursue our passion,” quipped Shahil.

The event is to be held from August 21 till September 1 in Poos de Caldas, Brazil.
