May 20, 2017: Luring young women in the pretext of a happy family and stable future and selling them off to sex rackets by pimps is a practice not uncommon in this part of the country. However, despite repeated notifications, young girls seem to easily fall prey to these pimps. In yet another case of human trafficking, a victim was rescued after she was sold off to a human trafficking racket by her husband. The victim hailing from Baranghati in Hajo, Assam was taken to Haryana instead of New Delhi by her husband on the pretext of a holiday trip.
However, as reported by this regional news website, the ‘so-called’ husband handed over the victim to the people from the sex racket in exchange of Rs 70000. Soon after this, the victim fled and reported the matter to the police.
