BJP Nagaland was on Sunday rocked by a news that allegedly attempted at character assassination of BJP national leader and in-charge North East, Ram Madhav.
It may be mentioned that a website called News Joint had published a report whereby they attempted to tarnish the image of Ram Madhav. The news item, is now unavailable as it might have been removed.
Assam minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to twitter condemning strongly the act and also challenging the false claims made by the so-called news portal:
Shocked at utter & shameless falsehood being spread about @rammadhavbjp ji. We challenge those behind this blatant lie to prove the claims. Meanwhile, we are moving to the cyber crime department to investigate this. We shall also sue all those involved in spreading rumours!

The BJP Nagaland had yesterday clarified in a press note that, “the report purportedly written by News Joint, which seems to be another fake news agency or channel is devoid of any truth and written with malicious intent. Such spreading of false news is tantamount to not only character assassination but also poses grave risk of sparking off communal tension.
The State BJP has taken this fake news issue with all seriousness and will initiate prompt and fitting action against those behind spreading the fabricated news. Appropriate sections of the law and the IT Act would be applied to penalize and punish those responsible for the mischief.”
