Assam CM promises free Wi-Fi, pension to farmers on New Year

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday announces a slew of poll sops on the occasion of New Year. Gogoi while greeting the press in his Koindhara residence announces that his government will take up to provide Wi-Fi facilities to colleges across the state. He said, “We will provide Wi-Fi facility to the colleges of our state. Free access to internet would help the students get familiar with the advancement of the technology.

Besides this, Gogoi said that his government would ensure free medicines for the poor people and recruitment in 75000 posts before the assembly polls. “We will open recruitment in 75,000 posts before the assembly polls during the next two months,” said Gogoi.

The Chief Minister also stated that the government will introduce a scheme of farmers’ pension in the state through which more than one lakh farmers will be benefited.

“With a view to uplifting the farming community, our government will pay Rs 500 per farmers. This will help them have a decent living. This is going to be started in a month.”

Gogoi also said that to help administration function smoothly, Assam will get 15 more sub divisions this year.

The proposed sub divisions include Moran, Merapani, Tihu, Patharkandi, Sorbhog, Sutarkandi, Mukalmuwa, South Kamrup, Kolagasia, Howraghat.

Moreover, he promised to reorganize the development blocks across the state to take the various schemes more effectively to the people.
