In two fire accidents that took place on Tuesday, six units of semi RCC barracks and three units of OBT barracks have been gutted at Gour Hill at around 2.30 am.
The barracks belong to the Department of Hydro Power, where employees of the department were living. In another fire incident that occurred at Ngomdir Village at around 10 am, seven dwelling houses have been completely gutted. Properties like power tiller, rice mills, motor cycles, gun and other local items have been completely burnt as all villagers were out of the village during the incident.
The District Administration represented by EAC Liyi Bagra, DSP Aalo and DDMO rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and distributed immediate relief of Rs 3800 to each victim at Gour Hill and Rs 6000 each to seven fire victims of Ngomdir village.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed shock over two different incidents of fire mishap in West Siang district. Extending his solidarity with the victims, CM issued directives for immediate relief to be provided to the aggrieved.
“Necessary instructions have been issued to the department of disaster management to provide adequate relief to the victims” CM said. He also directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance to the victims for relief and rehabilitation by taking due care of their needs, ration, food, shelter and safe drinking water.
