Arunachal Pradesh bags Award for Most Improved Small State

ITANAGAR: Adding yet another feather on its cap, the hilly border state of Arunachal Pradesh was conferred the Most Improved Small State award in terms of infrastructure development by the media giant India Today.

The award was given at its 14th India Today State of the States Conclave 2016 in New Delhi yesterday.

As per information, “Arunachal has completed 67% of projects sanctioned under (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) JNNURM.” However the National average is 14%. Further in Arunachal, the ratio of surfaced road length to population has increased from 8 per 1,000 in 2012 to 11 per 1,000 in 2013.

It is to be mentioned here that, in December 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had talked of the “most important role” states play in India’s progress.

Besides, four other Northeastern states—Mizoram, Manipur, Assam and Tripura have received awards for Economy, Environment, Health and E-governance respectively.
