GUWAHATI, Feb 2017: No sooner had he undergone rounds of interrogations in connection with the multi-crore scam in the Social Welfare Department, former Assam Congress Minister Gautam Roy will yet again undergo a question and answer with the police on Monday in connection with the APSC cash-for-job scam.
Sources informed that the former minister will be questioned today in APSC Scam case, the case which involved high profile individuals like the APSC chairman Rakesh Paul, Samedur Rahman besides others.
It may be mentioned that on January this year, Gautam Roy was questioned by the Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau, Guwahati in connection to the Rs 2250 crore scam in Social Welfare department. The Social Welfare Department scam relates to misappropriation of funds under various schemes, including the Centrally-sponsored ones and also those meant for nutrition of mother and children.
This APSC scam which rocked Assam for the past many months now witnessed the level of corruption involving many bigwigs even as the case got murkier with the revelations of names by the main accused—Rakesh Paul including politicians and journalists.
The APSC alleged job scam had come to light following the arrest of an assistant engineer, Nabakanta Patir, at Dibrugarh on October last year, whose revelations had led to the arrest of Paul. Patir’s confessions had also led to the arrest of the PSO of APSC member Samedur Rahman, with Rahman being himself arrested on November 9 last in the same case.
