GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has stated that soon he was going to hand over the investigation into the secret killing incidents of the state to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI).
Speaking to reporters in Jorhat district of Assam, the Chief Minister said, “I will soon be going to hand over the investigation of secret killings to the CBI. Sarbananda Sonowal and other BJP leaders have been accusing me of protecting the killers. I will give a fitting reply to that.”
Notably, the state BJP leadership on many occasions have been pinning allegation against Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi that he has been safeguarding the secret killers by not initiating a proper inquiry.
Secret killings in Assam happened during the period of 1998-2001, allegedly under the patronisation of the then Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) government to stop insurgency in the state.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi have also threatened that he would also hand over the murder case of Sourav Bora and Manabendra Sharma to the same investigating agency.
“Not only secret killing but soon I will hand over the CBI the charge of inquiring into the murder case of Sourav Bora and Manabendra Sharma”.
Notably, BJP Chief Ministerial candidate from Assam Sarbananda Sonowal was accused of murdering Sourav Bora who was a student leader of Dibrugarh University in 1990s.
Likewise, BJP leaders Himanta Biswa Sharma has been accused to have involved in the murder of Congress leader Manabendra Sharma.
