Two die, three hurt in car-truck collision in Nagaland

Two people succumbed to injuries, while three others received grievous injuries after a car collided head-on with a truck belonging to 5 Sector of Assam Rifles near Meriema village on the NH 02, on the Kohima-Wokha road.

Official sources said the front portion of the car was badly mangled, while two out of the five occupants died, while heading towards hospital. The other three were rushed to a nearby hospital with in critical condition. Police also arrested the Assam Rifles truck driver and seized the vehicle. Sources said they have initiated an investigation and one car, which was reportedly overtaken by the victim car before it collided with the truck, was identified and police also took the drivers’ statement.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) has condoled the loss of two precious lives and the injured persons. In a press statement issued through the PRO of the IGAR (N) said the unfortunate accident that took place between a Maruti Zen car, which was overtaking on a blind turn and collided with Assam Rifles’ vehicle, coming from the opposite direction.

The IGAR has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of the deceased, Ms Keileu and Mr Jesse from Teillijon village of Assam and prayed to almighty to provide strength to the family members to bear the irreparable loss and for the departed soul.
