Tripura: Bharatiya Janata Party gears up for 2018 Assembly polls

AGARTALA, April 18: With less than a year left for Tripura to go for Assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has started preparations to gain its ground.

Recently, the party’s national executive meeting held in Bhubaneshwar chalked out strategies for the coming Assembly polls in few states including Tripura.

To boost up the party organizations, Rajya Sabha MP Roopa Ganguly would visit the state tomorrow. In her two-day visit, she would address public gatherings at Melagarh in Sepahijala District and South District’s Belonia. BJP national General Secretary Ram Madhav would then arrive here and sit for discussion with the workers about strengthening the organization in the grassroots level at North District’s Dharmanagar on April 22 and 23 eyeing the coming 2018 Assembly elections, informed BJP vice president Subal Bhowmik on Tuesday.

” Our two senior leaders are coming here to boost up the party organization . Our party’s national president Amit Shah is also arriving on May 6. We have also taken a bunch of programmes from tomorrow,” Bhowmik told the media at party headquarters this evening.

Simultaneously, Bhowmik criticized the Left Front government for distorting party president Biplab Deb’s speech about EVM and said that the president and party observer Sunil Deodhar would highlight on the issue tomorrow soon after their arrival from Bhubaneshwar.

Later, he announced the party has donated a sum of Rs. One lakh to an old couple who had lost their two sons in a tragic train accident recently.” The Left Front never showed any kind of sympathy to such families, forget about the compensation.Still, we demand the government to give compensation of Rs. 5 lakh and a job to any member of the deceased’s family,” he said.
