Mizoram: ZPM seeks Centre’s intervention for installation of RT-PCR machine

The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) on Monday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention concerning the installation of another RT-PCR machine in the state amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

Mizoram currently has only one RT-PCR machine installed at Zoram Medical College in Aizawl.

According to the ZPM, a Congress legislator had donated an RT-PCR machine last year, but the state administration denied them permission to install it in Lunglei district.

The Opposition party also alleged that the State Government had deliberately delayed the installation.

Other sources, however, claim that the delay was because of infrastructural requirements.
